Enemy
Reaper
Movement: 2
The Reaper is a terrifying undead enemy found in The Boneyard and The Infinite, with 18 HP, 4 damage, and 2 movement in its regular form. Classified as a skeleton/ghost hybrid, the Reaper is one of the most mechanically complex enemies in the game, combining aggressive spin attacks with a reactive teleportation and buff system that punishes careless play. It can walk through walls and leaves no corpse when defeated, denying any on-death effects or corpse-based strategies.
Each turn the Reaper opens with a 3-hit spin attack that damages all adjacent units. Its signature mechanic activates whenever any allied enemy is killed: the Reaper instantly teleports adjacent to the unit responsible for the kill, gains +1 to all stats, and receives +4 maximum health. This vengeance teleport triggers before the Reaper's normal turn, meaning it can chain multiple teleports in a single round if several allies fall. With multiple Reapers on the field, each ally death cascades into a series of teleports and stat buffs that can rapidly spiral out of control, transforming what seemed like a routine cleanup into a desperate scramble.
The optimal strategy against Reapers is to prioritize killing them before clearing other enemies, cutting off their buff pipeline entirely. If that is not possible, designate a durable tank cat to land all killing blows on weaker enemies so the Reaper's teleport targets a unit that can absorb the follow-up attack. Because the Reaper always initiates with its spin, clever positioning can exploit this by placing it near other enemies so its own attack damages them. Champions are particularly dangerous at 36 HP, 5 damage, and 3 movement, with their stat-absorb mechanic granting +All Stats instead of just +1, making every unchecked ally death dramatically more threatening.
