Jar of Nothing is a common trinket that does exactly what it says — nothing. It occupies the trinket slot without providing any stat bonuses or special effects, making it the game's most honest item. Occasionally useful for builds that benefit from holding a specific slot without actual bonuses, or simply for the philosophical statement of going into battle empty-handed.

In most runs, Jar of Nothing is simply a placeholder to avoid taking a worse trinket, or a trap that occupies a slot that could be used for something meaningful. There are no stat interactions, no passive triggers, and no hidden mechanics. The trinket slot is one of the most contested equipment positions in Mewgenics, so equipping a Jar of Nothing is generally a last resort rather than an intentional choice.

The narrow use cases for Jar of Nothing include builds that specifically want to keep the trinket slot unoccupied for a mechanic that checks for no trinket, or runs where all available trinkets have net-negative effects. It can also serve as a temporary holder when shuffling items across your party. Outside of those scenarios, any other trinket will provide more value — even a slightly negative one might be worth the passive interaction it enables.
