Old Shoe

A common trinket that grants +1 SPD. Speed determines turn order in combat and how far your cat can move, so even a single point adds up when stacking multiple sources. Old Shoe is an entry-level speed trinket — fine early on but typically replaced once uncommon or rare speed options become available.

SPD affects both movement range per turn and initiative order, meaning Old Shoe quietly improves your positioning options every fight without requiring any management. Stacking SPD from multiple common trinkets (Old Shoe alongside Jazzercise VHS Tape for DEX, for instance) creates a compounding mobility build even from common-rarity items. In the Copycat set, +1 SPD becomes +2, making Old Shoe meaningfully faster.

Old Shoe is most valuable for ranged or skirmisher builds that need to maintain distance or reach specific positions quickly. Upgrade to Feather (which adds +1 SPD and AddInitiative in one slot) as soon as it appears — Feather is strictly better in nearly every scenario. Hold Old Shoe early in a run when Feather hasn't appeared, or keep it in Copycat builds where the doubled SPD bonus from every trinket slot compounds into a significant speed advantage.
