The Loner Mark 2

The Loner Mark 2 is the rare upgraded form of The Loner, earned by completing The Loner sidequest. Like its predecessor it fires a 5-damage sniper shot in line of sight, but its reload mechanic now triggers whenever any ally dies rather than requiring a turn. Part of the Cool item set, it rewards solo or ally-sacrificing playstyles with consistent high-damage output.

The on-death reload mechanic means every ally who falls reloads the weapon immediately, keeping the wielder in a constant firing state in prolonged battles where allies die. On teams where resurrection or revival mechanics regularly bring cats back from downed states, the death triggers provide a reliable stream of reloads. The line-of-sight sniper range is effectively unlimited as long as there is a clear path to the target.

The Loner Mark 2 is best on a lone survivor build or a Necromancer who cycles allies through downed and revived states, triggering reloads every cycle. In higher-difficulty runs where allies die frequently, the Mark 2 turns each death into a reload trigger and keeps pressure on the enemy. Pair it with a high-DEX cat for improved line-of-sight coverage and crit chance to maximize the 5-damage shot's output.
