NPC
Baby Jack
Vendor — Furniture
Baby Jack is the sole source of all furniture in Mewgenics, unlocked as a vendor once you obtain your first piece of furniture. He starts by selling just 2 pieces of furniture per week, restocking every Sunday. To expand his inventory, you send him Injured Cats: cats that have returned from runs with wounds, missing eyes, or other ailments. The first injured cat bumps his stock to 3 items, and subsequent upgrades at 10, 20, and 30 cumulative cats raise it to 4, 5, and 6 pieces per restock. After reaching the fourth upgrade, an endless tier accepts batches of 10 injured cats and increases the chance of rare furniture appearing in his shop by 1% per donation, topping out around 39.5% rare chance at 50 total donations.
Furniture directly shapes your house's Comfort, Stimulation, and Appeal stats, which in turn affect breeding outcomes, cat behavior, and overall home quality. This makes Baby Jack central to optimizing your breeding environment over the long term. At higher upgrade levels, his shop pools shift to include rarer and more expensive furniture with stronger stat bonuses, so the investment in injured cats pays compounding dividends. Since furniture placement is one of the primary ways to influence what kind of kittens your breeding pairs produce, a well-stocked Baby Jack shop is the difference between a mediocre cattery and a finely tuned genetic operation.
Injured cats are easy to come by as your home descends into chaos, since catfights frequently result in injuries. Rather than wasting wounded cats on other NPCs, prioritize sending them to Baby Jack and make a habit of visiting his shop every Sunday to browse his growing selection. Lore-wise, Baby Jack (also called Jackie or BJ) lives with his mother Nona in a dilapidated shack with a basement. Nona suffers from severe hoarding disorder, and Jack accidentally trapped her under fallen furniture. He sometimes panhandles for her during adventures while wearing an incomplete arm cast and missing a shoe. Innocently naive, he believes his injured eye will develop X-ray vision "when it grows back" and holds the misconception that injuries make cats stronger, which is why he plans to injure the cats you send him further as part of a training regimen.
