Kinetic Spikes

When this takes damage, emit {stacks} Sparkles.

Kinetic Spikes is a reactive buff that emits 1 Sparkle per stack whenever the unit takes damage. Sparkles are small magic projectiles that deal 1 magic damage to a random nearby unit. This creates a passive damage field around the unit, punishing enemies for attacking while potentially dealing collateral damage to nearby targets.

Kinetic Spikes is persistent and does not decay, so every damage instance the unit receives throughout combat triggers Sparkle emissions. The random targeting of Sparkles means they can hit allies as well as enemies, making Kinetic Spikes a double-edged mechanic in team fights. Multiple stacks emit multiple Sparkles per damage instance, increasing both the area damage output and the risk of friendly fire.

The Reactive elite buff grants +1 Kinetic Spikes to enemies, creating hazardous zones around them when attacked. Against Reactive enemies, reducing the number of separate damage instances (using fewer, larger hits) minimizes Sparkle emissions. Kinetic Spikes pairs with tank builds that absorb many hits, generating steady Sparkle output throughout combat.
