Kinetic Spikes

When this takes damage, emit {stacks} Sparkles.

Kinetic Spikes causes a unit to deal damage to attackers based on the distance they traveled to reach them. The further an enemy moved before striking, the more retaliation damage Kinetic Spikes inflicts, punishing long-range charges and rushdown tactics.

Kinetic Spikes is most effective against fast-moving melee enemies that charge across the battlefield to reach your cats. The longer their approach, the bigger the retaliation hit. Position Kinetic Spikes cats far from enemy spawns to maximize the distance-based damage. Enemies already adjacent to the unit deal minimal Kinetic Spikes damage, so the effect is weaker against enemies that are already in melee range.
