Earthquake

Earthquake is an environmental weather effect in Mewgenics that physically reshapes the battlefield by destroying objects and scattering rocks and rubble across the arena. Certain tiles become blocked, cutting off movement paths and creating new terrain features that did not exist in the original map layout.

The impact of Earthquake varies significantly from fight to fight because it interacts with whatever terrain and objects were already present. In an open arena, Earthquake might create a few blocked tiles that slightly alter pathing. In a dense, object-heavy arena, it can destroy cover, open new sight lines, and create impassable barriers that funnel all movement through narrow choke points.

These choke points are particularly relevant for ranged and AoE builds. If rubble blocks off half the map, enemies are forced to approach through a narrow corridor where your ranged cats can focus fire. AoE abilities become devastating when enemies are squeezed into tight spaces. Conversely, melee builds may find that the rubble is between them and their targets, forcing longer movement paths and wasting turns on repositioning.

Earthquake can also destroy environmental objects, which may drop items, create new tile types, or remove cover that enemies were hiding behind. The destruction is semi-random, so you cannot predict exactly how the terrain will change before entering a fight. Checking the map at the start of each encounter is especially important during Earthquake weather.

Earthquake can appear in any biome and is classified as an uncommon weather. It is one of the more neutral weathers in terms of difficulty, since its impact depends heavily on the specific arena layout and your team's reliance on ground mobility.
