Strange Eggs
SpawnExtraThingsOnBattleStart: {"object":"AlienEgg","number":[3,6]}
Strange Eggs is a rare creature-spawn weather effect in Mewgenics that places 3 to 6 mysterious eggs on the battlefield at the start of each encounter. These eggs are ticking time bombs: if not destroyed within a few turns, they hatch into powerful hostile mobs that dramatically increase the difficulty of the fight.
The eggs themselves have modest HP and do not fight back, making them easy to destroy if you dedicate a cat's action to attacking them. The problem is action economy. With 3 to 6 eggs spread across the arena plus the normal enemy roster to deal with, you need to divide your team's efforts between egg destruction and enemy management. Spending too many actions on eggs means enemies get free turns to attack your cats. Spending too few actions on eggs means hatched mobs overwhelm you a few turns later.
The hatched mobs are significantly stronger than normal enemies in the zone. They arrive at full health with dangerous abilities, and their sudden appearance in the middle of a fight can swing the encounter from manageable to desperate in a single turn. Preventing even one egg from hatching is worth the investment of a turn's worth of actions.
The optimal approach is to prioritize eggs in the first 1 to 2 turns, dedicating your fastest or most mobile cats to racing across the arena and destroying eggs while your other cats engage the main enemy roster. Ranged cats can snipe eggs from a distance without needing to reposition, making them especially valuable under Strange Eggs.
Strange Eggs can appear in any biome and is classified as a rare weather. Its time-pressure mechanic creates some of the most urgent and engaging tactical decisions in the game.
