Disease
Sick
General illness that drains health over time. The most common disease state.
Sick is the most common disease in Mewgenics and the one most players will encounter first. It develops when cats are housed in rooms with low Health ratings, slowly draining their HP over time until treated. While not immediately lethal, leaving a Sick cat untreated for too long will eventually result in death, making it a quiet but persistent threat to your cattery's population.
Unlike Plague, Sick is not contagious, so it will not spread to other cats in the same room. However, if the room's Health stat remains low, multiple cats can independently develop the illness at the same time. This makes room management and furniture upgrades the most effective form of prevention. Keeping room Health high through better furniture, cleanliness, and room upgrades is far more efficient than curing cats one by one after the fact.
Curing Sick cats can be done through several methods: resting them in a high-Health room, using healing abilities, or leveraging Cleric class spells. If you have access to a Cleric, their healing toolkit makes short work of common illnesses. For early-game players without class access, simply moving a Sick cat into a better room and giving it time to recover is the most practical approach. Prioritize treating Sick cats before sending them into combat, as the ongoing HP drain stacks with battle damage and can lead to unexpected deaths mid-run.
