Floater

Movement: 3

The Floater is a poop-type enemy found in The Sewers and The Rift, named after the colloquial term for excrement that floats on water. With 8 HP, 5 damage, and 3 movement, the Floater hits surprisingly hard for a low-tier enemy and uses a hit-and-run attack pattern that makes it difficult to punish after it strikes. As a poop-type creature, it leaves no corpse when defeated, preventing any on-death or corpse-based interactions.

The Floater's combat behavior follows a consistent pattern: it moves into melee range, delivers its 5-damage strike, then immediately retreats 2 tiles away from the target. This automatic retreat happens as part of the attack action itself, not as a separate movement, meaning the Floater is already repositioned before your cats get a chance to retaliate. The retreat creates a frustrating dynamic where the Floater effectively gets free hits unless you can predict its approach vector and position cats to intercept it.

The best counter to the Floater's hit-and-run style is to use abilities or positioning that catch it mid-retreat or punish it for attacking. Contact damage effects like Thorns trigger when the Floater strikes, dealing damage before it can retreat. Area-of-effect abilities centered on your own position can catch it as it approaches. Alternatively, cats with enough movement to chase down the retreated Floater can follow up immediately. Champions have 16 HP, 6 damage, and 4 movement, making them faster and harder-hitting while maintaining the same evasive retreat pattern.
