The Sewers

Underground Sewer

The Sewers is Act 1's Chapter 2 area, unlocked after completing The Alley. This underground sewer system is flooded with water tiles, poop obstacles, and aquatic enemies that thrive in the wet environment. The area's soundtrack, "Flush," sets the tone for what is one of the game's most hazard-dense early areas.

Water is both the defining feature and the key tactical consideration here. Water current tiles push units along their flow, harpoon cannons threaten from fixed positions, and spiked rocks punish careless positioning. Electric-affinity abilities are devastatingly effective, as they electrocute entire connected water bodies and damage every unit standing in them. This cuts both ways: grouped enemies melt, but your own cats take the hit too if they are in the same pool. Water removal methods like Bramble Shot, Mountain Form, and freezing abilities can neutralize enemy advantages on waterlogged boards.

The enemy roster leans heavily aquatic: Baby Sharks, Sharky Cats, and the fearsome Daddy Shark (capable of instant kills with bleed synergy) are the standout threats. Water Kittens, Water Leeches, Floaters, and Fetus enemies fill out the ranks. Gassy Cats and Boomer Cats add area denial, while Dips and Piles serve as fodder. The Flushmaster mini-boss pushes all units back 10 tiles, though during ice or snow weather it is replaced by the Frostbiter.

The chapter boss is Boris (200 HP, 240 in Champion mode), a grotesquely bloated cat with permanent Trample status who takes four turns per round. Boris reacts to damage by moving one tile toward whatever hit him, and his signature Trample Dash charges in a cardinal direction until he hits a wall, dealing damage and knockback to anything in his path. Immobilize status shuts down nearly all of his mechanics, making it the single best counter. Stun and Sleep prevent his reactive movement, and damage-over-time effects like Bleed and Poison chip away without triggering his approach. Any source of knockback, even just 1 tile, prevents trampling damage entirely.

Completing The Sewers and speaking with Butch unlocks the Thief class. Exclusive loot includes Fecal gear (reduces Charisma but inflicts Poisoned), Brick armor (high Shield, reduces Speed, inflicts Bruise), Slimy equipment (projectile-catch chance plus Immobile), the Doodie Mask (spawns a charmed Fly ally each turn), and the Manhole Cover weapon (ranged knockback). The hard path rewards a Furniture Box and a Rare Treasure.
