Enemy
Pile
Movement: 0
Pile is a stationary poop-type enemy found in The Sewers, The Rift, and The Jurassic. With 8 HP, 2 damage, and 0 movement, it never moves from its starting position, instead relying on a lobbed ranged attack with an impressive 7-tile range to harass your cats from afar. While its individual shots deal minimal damage, the Pile's real threat comes from its spawning mechanic: every ranged attack that connects spawns a Dip on the target, and when no cats are within range, it spawns Dips adjacent to itself instead.
The Dip spawning mechanic is what makes the Pile dangerous despite its low stats. Left unchecked, a Pile steadily floods the battlefield with Dips that swarm your cats with melee attacks, creating an ever-growing mob that diverts your attention from higher-priority targets. The Pile has a blind spot at range 1, meaning any cat standing directly adjacent to it is completely safe from its lobbed attack. Like other poop-type enemies, the Pile leaves no corpse when defeated, preventing any on-death corpse interactions.
The recommended approach is to either rush the Pile and stand in its blind spot for a safe kill, or create tiles with damaging effects like fire or ice shards near it to automatically destroy spawned Dips before they can act. Area-of-effect abilities are valuable for cleaning up Dip swarms that have already accumulated. Champions have 16 HP and 3 damage with the same spawning behavior, making them harder to burst down before the Dip count becomes overwhelming. In encounters with multiple Piles, prioritize the ones that have the clearest firing lines to your cats.
