The Jurassic
Prehistoric / Dinosaur Era
The Jurassic is an Act 3, Chapter 3 location that drops your cats into a dense prehistoric jungle teeming with dinosaurs. Unlocked after completing The Ice Age for the first time, it features towering ferns, volcanic vents, tar pits, and primordial swamps. The terrain plays a major tactical role: Tall Grass tiles grant +40% Dodge Chance (use these constantly against the aggressive enemy roster), tar tiles immobilize cats caught in them, and mini volcanoes serve as environmental hazards on the battlefield.
The enemy pool splits into two distinct threats: fast pack raptors and slow, heavily-armored large dinosaurs. Raptors are the most dangerous small enemies thanks to their high movement speed and FurySwipes attack that hits a random number of times per strike. They get bonus actions when attacking together, so letting them swarm a cat is often fatal. Clear raptors first in mixed fights. The larger dinosaurs (T-Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus) hit extremely hard but telegraph their attacks, giving you time to reposition. Dino Eggs spawn additional enemies if not destroyed quickly. Bring a mix of single-target burst for the big targets and AoE for raptor packs.
The miniboss encounter is Dino Lovers, a pair of Pachycephalosaurus (male and female) that fight cooperatively. When one is attacked, the other rushes the attacker and performs a retaliatory strike if close enough. Use Meat Hook to separate them, Grapple to force the male to skip turns, or Charm to prevent them from moving toward their partner. The chapter boss is Dreadnoughtus, a colossal sauropod with approximately 550 HP fought in two phases. Phase 1 targets its four legs independently; Phase 2 begins when the head crashes down after two legs lift simultaneously, stunning it for one round and creating the critical damage window. Apply Immobile to legs, burst during head stun phases, and watch for its Defecate ability that spawns poisonous Poop Cats.
The Jurassic is home to the Volcano event, one of the most consequential Skill Events in the game. Your cat climbs to the top of an active volcano and can choose to sacrifice itself, place the Receiver Antenna (a quest item from the C-800 boss), or walk away. Sacrificing a cat usually kills it, but a rare critical success spares the cat and rewards it with one of three unique Fetin disorders: Orange Fetin (mana and healing on kill), Black Fetin (full mana restore when an ally is downed), or Purple Fetin (3 extra level-up rerolls). Placing the Receiver Antenna completes part of the unlock path for The Infinite, the secret endgame area. The Volcano event makes The Jurassic a key quest checkpoint for Act 3 progression. The chapter also features a scripted weather selection event mid-chapter and the unique Eruption weather, which spawns a mini volcano surrounded by lava tiles that can ignite grass and spread fire across the battlefield.
