Eruption

Eruption is a rare creature-spawn weather effect in Mewgenics that places a miniature volcano on a random tile at the start of each battle. The volcano generates persistent fire hazards and lava tiles that create dangerous area-denial zones on the battlefield.

Lava tiles deal heavy damage to any unit that walks over or ends its turn on them, making them functionally similar to fire tiles but more damaging and harder to remove. The volcano itself is a persistent terrain object that cannot be destroyed and continues generating hazards throughout the fight. As the battle progresses, the lava spread can consume a significant portion of the arena, progressively limiting your available movement space.

Water abilities are the primary counter to Eruption. Water tiles and Wet-applying abilities can cool lava tiles, converting them back into safe terrain. If your team lacks water abilities, the lava spread becomes an escalating problem with no solution, so bringing at least one cat with water-creation capability is strongly recommended when Eruption is active.

Fire-immune cats (via Fire Element mutations or specific items) can walk through lava without taking damage, giving them unique freedom of movement under Eruption. These cats can hold positions that other team members cannot, creating tactical advantages in fights where the lava has funneled enemies into specific approach routes.

Eruption can appear in any biome and is classified as a rare weather. It rewards water-synergy builds and punishes teams without any elemental counter to fire hazards.
