Enemy

Dip

Movement: 3

The Dip is a small poop-type enemy found in The Sewers and The Rift chapters. It is one of the weakest enemies in the game individually: 2 HP, 3 damage, movement 3, and no special abilities beyond basic melee. It does not leave a corpse when defeated. In a one-on-one encounter Dips are trivial, but they are almost never alone.

Dips are spawned by Piles (via ranged attack) and by the Flushmaster, which can continuously produce them throughout an encounter. Their real danger is numerical: a room flooded with Dips means multiple 3-damage melee hits per turn landing on one or more cats, which can add up to serious damage quickly. They also block movement paths and force cats to spend turns attacking chaff instead of priority targets.

Area-of-effect abilities and damaging tiles are highly effective for clearing Dip swarms before they become overwhelming. Against a Flushmaster, destroying the spawner is more efficient than trying to kill each Dip individually. Single-target burst damage is wasted on Dips — save it for the Piles and Flushmasters that produce them. Splash damage from abilities like Explosive or floor hazards can wipe multiple Dips per turn.
