Sleep

You are asleep until your sleep paralysis demon is killed.

Sleep is a control debuff that causes the afflicted unit to skip its next turn. Stacks reduce by 1 each turn, so multiple stacks extend the sleep duration. Unlike Stun, Sleep has a unique interaction with incoming damage: when a sleeping unit takes damage, there is a chance it will wake up, with the probability scaling based on the amount of damage dealt. This means Sleep is most effective when you avoid hitting the sleeping target, allowing the full duration to play out.

Sleep is preceded by the Drowsy debuff, which causes a unit to fall asleep at the end of its turn. This two-step process gives players a one-turn warning before Sleep takes effect, allowing them to potentially cleanse Drowsy before it converts. The Sleep (Paralysis) variant, associated with the Sleep Paralysis Demon, is a permanent form of Sleep that lasts until the demon is killed, creating a specific kill-priority target in those encounters.

Strategically, Sleep is best used against targets you do not need to attack immediately, as damage-over-time effects and area attacks can accidentally wake the target. This makes Sleep pair poorly with Bleed, Burn, or Poison, as those ongoing damage ticks risk waking the unit early. Sleep works well as a way to temporarily remove a threat from combat while your team focuses on other targets. When your cats are put to Sleep, the damage-wake mechanic means allies can attempt to wake them by dealing a large hit, though this is unreliable with small damage amounts.
