Burn
Takes {stacks} damage at start of its turn, then decrease Burn by 1.
Burn is a stackable damage-over-time debuff that deals fire damage to the afflicted unit at the end of each turn. Each stack of Burn adds to the total damage per tick, and stacks can accumulate rapidly from multiple fire-element attacks or fire terrain tiles. Burn is one of the most common DoT effects in the game and is central to fire-element builds.
Burn interacts with several elemental mechanics. Water-element attacks or stepping on Water terrain tiles can extinguish Burn stacks, while the Wet status makes a unit temporarily immune to new Burn applications. Conversely, units with the Flammable status take increased Burn damage. Being downed while Burn is active results in the Immolated injury, which permanently reduces CHA and LCK by 1 each.
Burn is prevalent in The Crater and The Core, where fire-type enemies and lava tiles apply it frequently. Plant-type enemies in The Crater are weak to Burn, making it a strong offensive tool there. Managing Burn on your own cats requires either cleansing it quickly or building fire resistance to reduce its effectiveness.
