Status Effect
Freeze
Cannot take damage. Unfreezes at the start of its turn.
Freeze is a status effect that locks the afflicted unit in ice, preventing all actions and movement. Freeze functions similarly to Petrify as a multi-turn hard disable, but it is tied to ice-element damage and has specific elemental interactions. Fire-element attacks can thaw frozen units, while additional ice attacks may extend the freeze duration.
Freeze is the signature hazard of The Ice Age and other cold-themed areas, where ice terrain tiles and frost enemies can apply it frequently. Fire-element abilities are the natural counter, both for thawing frozen allies and for dealing bonus damage to ice-type enemies. Cats entering cold areas should either carry fire abilities or have high enough resistance to avoid being frozen in the first place. The Frozen status can also result from the Wet status interacting with ice attacks, creating a dangerous chain where a wet cat is instantly frozen by even minor cold damage.
