Shield

Shield is a stackable buff that absorbs incoming damage before it reaches the unit's HP. Each point of Shield absorbs one point of damage, and once all Shield is consumed, further damage hits HP normally. Shield does not regenerate on its own and must be reapplied through abilities, items, or passive effects.

Shield is one of the most important defensive mechanics in Mewgenics. Tank builds often stack large amounts of Shield through abilities like the Fighter's Thick Skull passive, which grants +3 Shield per Concussion injury. Shield-generating abilities, items, and auras are core components of any team that wants to survive late-game encounters. Unlike HP, Shield can be stacked beyond a cat's base Constitution, making it possible to create extremely durable front-line units that absorb enormous amounts of punishment before their health is ever touched.
