Snake

Ground-based universal enemy that can poison.

Snake is a fast melee familiar found across all chapters of Mewgenics. With only 1 HP, 2 damage, and 5 movement, it is extremely fragile but very fast. Unlike most familiars that act autonomously, the Snake is directly controlled by the player or enemy that summons it, giving full tactical control over its positioning and attacks. It leaves no corpse when slain, preventing any necromancy or corpse-based abilities from triggering on its remains.

The Snake's high movement speed makes it an effective scout and harasser. It can dart across the field to pick off weakened targets, contest objectives, or apply pressure to backline units that would otherwise be safe from slower melee threats. However, its 1 HP means any stray damage, area-of-effect ability, or environmental hazard kills it instantly. The Snake is essentially a glass cannon with no cannon: it trades all survivability for pure mobility.

When fighting enemy Snakes, they are trivial to eliminate but can be annoying if ignored, as their speed lets them reach any cat on the field. A single point of damage from any source handles them. When using friendly Snakes, their direct control and speed make them useful for finishing off low-HP enemies or triggering on-kill effects, though investing too heavily in protecting a 1 HP unit is rarely worthwhile.
