Brain Maggot

The Brain Maggot is a parasite head item that burrows into the host's skull and feeds on cerebral tissue, applying a steep INT -3 penalty. In return, it grants a powerful delayed auto-revive passive: when the wearer dies, the maggot's survival instinct triggers a resurrection after a set number of turns, bringing the character back mid-combat.

The DelayedAutoRevive mechanic means the character rises again after a brief window rather than immediately. This delay is critical — enemies can still act during the gap, so placement and surrounding threats matter. Because the revive is passive and automatic, it effectively grants an extra life without any active input from the player, making it one of the more resilient survivability options available in the head slot.

Best suited for frontline fighters and classes that don't rely on INT — the -3 intelligence penalty is steep but irrelevant on STR or CON-focused builds. Pairs well with high-health characters who can survive long enough to benefit from the revive, and synergizes with any passives or abilities that trigger on death or near-death states. Avoid on casters or support characters where INT loss directly hurts output.
