Enemy
Maggot
Movement: 2
The Maggot is a common low-tier enemy that appears across a sweeping range of environments — The Alley, The Boneyard, The Junkyard, The Throbbing Domain, The Desert, and The Lab. At 1 Hit Point, it is among the most fragile enemies in the game, deals only 2 melee damage, and leaves no corpse when defeated. Under ordinary circumstances it is a trivial threat, but a single environmental tile can transform it entirely.
When a Maggot moves through a Toxic Waste tile, it permanently mutates into one of three specialist variants. The Chargey Maggot gains a dash attack with Trample, letting it bulldoze through multiple targets in a line. The Burfer Maggot surrounds nearby units with Thorny lumps on each strike, punishing melee contact. The Diggy Maggot swaps positions with units as it moves and has a chance to stun on hit — making it the most disruptive of the three. The mutation happens instantly and cannot be reversed.
Controlling which Toxic Waste tiles Maggots can reach is often more important than killing them outright. If none of the variants would threaten your lineup, Maggots can safely be left until last — but letting several mutate freely in a cluttered fight can escalate the encounter significantly. Champions have 5 HP and deal 3 damage.
