The Chargey Maggot is a worm-type enemy found in The Throbbing Domain and The Desert, combining the basic maggot body plan with a devastating piercing dash attack. With 9 HP, 4 damage, and 2 movement, it appears modestly threatening on paper, but its infinite-range dash with trample makes it one of the most dangerous maggot variants in the game. Unlike other maggots that rely on melee strikes or positional tricks, the Chargey Maggot simply charges in a straight line through everything in its path.
The Chargey Maggot's dash attack has infinite range and trample, meaning it damages and knocks back every unit it passes through along its charge line. This makes it exceptionally dangerous when multiple cats are lined up on the same row or column, as a single charge can hit your entire party in sequence. The trample knockback scatters your formation in the process, disrupting any careful positioning you have established. Before charging, the Chargey Maggot aligns itself with a target along a cardinal axis, giving a brief telegraph of the incoming attack direction.
The most effective counter is to avoid stacking cats on the same row or column, as spreading diagonally limits the dash to hitting only one target per charge. Its 9 HP is fragile enough to eliminate in one or two focused attacks if you can reach it before it charges. In encounters with multiple Chargey Maggots, their charge lines can create dangerous crossfire patterns that leave few safe tiles. Champions have 18 HP, 5 damage, and 3 movement, making their trample charges hit harder and giving them more flexibility to line up devastating multi-target runs.
