Demon Core

The Demon Core is a very rare and dangerously powerful item, a reference to the infamous criticality accident of 1945. It irradiates everything nearby, applying Radiation to enemies in an area while potentially affecting allies as well. An extremely high-risk, high-reward weapon that should be handled with caution.

Radiation status causes ongoing damage over time and may apply additional debuffs like Weakness or stat reduction. The area-of-effect nature of the Demon Core means it can irradiate multiple enemies simultaneously, but the lack of targeting precision risks hitting allied cats too. Builds with Radiation resistance mutations or irradiation immunity can safely exploit the Demon Core without the blowback.

The Demon Core is best used by cats who either have Radiation immunity or are willing to sacrifice themselves as a walking irradiation source for the team's benefit. Mutant builds that benefit from or are immune to Radiation make the best carriers. In tight corridors or dense enemy rooms, the Demon Core's area denial is unparalleled, making it a clutch pick for the right composition.
