Fukumen

Uncommon face armor from the Ninja set. Automatically counters the first two attacks received each combat. A fukumen is a traditional ninja face cloth, and the mechanics match — the wearer deflects early aggression without spending an action. Part of the Ninja set; particularly strong in fights where the first few hits come fast and getting counters in early can turn the tide.

CounterNextAttacks primes at the start of combat and automatically retaliates against the first two incoming attacks, dealing damage back to attackers without consuming the wearer's turn. This is a front-loaded defensive passive: it's strongest in the opening phase of a fight and dormant afterward. The counter fires on any attack, including multi-hit abilities, potentially retaliating against multiple targets if different enemies hit the wearer in the first two attacks.

Best on cats placed in harm's way early in a fight — frontliners, cats used as bait, or characters that enemies prioritize. The Fukumen effectively adds two free attack actions in the first round, which is especially impactful in shorter fights where the first exchange sets the tone. Pair with the Obi for the full Ninja set, and consider stacking with other counter or retaliation items if the build focuses on punishing enemies for attacking the wearer.
