Best suited to slow, tanky builds that are already moving last and don't rely on initiative — for them, the speed cost is negligible and the extra shielding adds real durability.

FaceShield adds a dedicated layer of protection separate from the wearer's armor, operating as additional mitigation specifically from frontal attacks or all incoming damage depending on implementation. The SPD-2 penalty drops the wearer lower in the initiative order — which on heavily armored tanks is generally irrelevant since they plan to be hit anyway and want enemies to attack them first. The penalty stacks additively with other SPD modifiers.

Infamous Mask is a straightforward tank face piece for builds that want more defensive layering without worrying about initiative. Pairs with high-armor neck items and CON scaling for a heavily armored frontliner that acts late but is nearly impossible to kill. Avoid on any build where SPD matters for ability combos or first-action burst — the SPD penalty will meaningfully delay your key actions.
