This converts a melee basic attack into a ranged AoE, which changes both targeting range and damage spread. Builds that previously relied on melee triggers (Thorns thorns, melee-on-hit passives) may lose those interactions, but gain an AoE ranged attack that can hit multiple enemies per use.
