Item
Knight
Uncommon
A chess piece trinket with 6 durability that lets you jump in an L-shape — two tiles in one direction, one perpendicular — just like a chess knight. This movement bypasses obstacles and enemies entirely, making it excellent for repositioning through crowded, cluttered battlefields. Part of a chess-themed item family alongside Rook and Bishop. The durability counter means it breaks after 6 uses, so save the jumps for when you really need them.
The L-shape jump bypasses all terrain and unit blocking entirely, unlike most movement abilities that are stopped by obstacles. A cat pinned in a corner can use the Knight jump to escape anywhere the L-shape reaches, regardless of what's in the way. With 6 uses, it's best spent on critical repositioning — escaping a dangerous melee pile, jumping behind an enemy for a backstab setup, or reaching a pickup in a dangerous area.
Backstab builds benefit the most from the Knight's repositioning — landing behind an enemy with a single jump sets up a backstab without burning a turn on normal movement. Pair with Pack of Blades (Serrated Claws on backstab) and the Prowler's set for a backstab chain that gets better every jump. The chess set also includes the Bishop (diagonal movement) and Rook (straight-line movement) for complementary playstyles.
