Among common face armor options, +6 Shield is on the high end, making it a strong defensive choice for cats that can absorb the speed penalty. Metal status increases damage taken from lightning, which is a situational liability rather than a constant one.

It's part of the Lead set alongside the Frying Pan (head armor), which also carries Metal status. If you're already committing to the Lead set's metal vulnerability for the Frying Pan's backstab protection, the Lead Mask's Shield value is a natural complement with no additional downside beyond what you've already accepted.
