Mage's Robe

Rare face armor from the Mage set. Provides INT +1 and adds a status effect to basic attacks. While the Mage set is oriented around abilities, the Robe's basic-attack proc means even standard swings apply pressure. Combined with the Mage's Hat (spell-cast trigger) and Mage's Scarf (enemy-death trigger), the full set covers three distinct trigger conditions for continuous status application throughout a fight.

AddStatusToBasicAttack on a Mage-oriented cat is an interesting counterpoint — mages typically use abilities rather than basic attacks, so this proc fires less often than on a physical attacker. However, turns where the cat uses a basic attack (cooldown cycles, conserving resources) still generate status procs, keeping the Robe useful even when spells aren't available. INT +1 is the main draw for pure spellcaster builds, adding consistent value regardless of attack frequency.

Best on hybrid builds that mix basic attacks and spells rather than purely casting. In the full Mage set, the Robe fills the face slot with INT and a passive that covers the moments between spell casts. The Robe is the weakest standalone piece of the set for a pure caster, but in the context of the full set it plugs the gap left by spell cooldowns. Spellswords or ability-attack hybrids will fire this proc far more often and get better value from the face slot.
