Mud Mask

A face mask made of mud — less relaxing than it sounds. Shield:3 provides decent protection normally, but FragileDuringElement and BrittleDuringElement mean it becomes both easy to destroy and susceptible to extra damage when specific elemental conditions apply. Worth equipping in non-elemental environments but a liability on floors or against enemies that deal elemental damage.

FragileDuringElement means the mask has increased chance of breaking when the relevant element is present on the battlefield — likely fire, water, or lightning depending on the specific element tied to the passive. BrittleDuringElement reduces the damage threshold before it shatters under those same conditions. In non-elemental fights, the Shield:3 functions normally with no drawback. Against elemental enemies the mask can be destroyed in just a few hits.

Mud Mask works well on runs without elemental threats or when fighting in dry, fire-free environments. Remove or swap it before entering areas with heavy elemental combat to preserve its shield value. A situation-dependent face item that rewards knowing when to equip it — excellent against physical-only enemies, a fragile liability against elements. Budget replacement for the face slot when elemental immunity isn't needed.
