Paper Bag

Paper Bag is the rare face armor earned by completing the Redacted sidequest. While it hides the wearer's face, it reveals a potent mechanical truth: the equipped cat's Charisma stat is set equal to their highest other stat. This allows Charisma-scaling abilities to peak at the cat's best attribute, regardless of how much was invested in CHA.

Charisma in Mewgenics affects abilities that scale with social influence, intimidation, or charm mechanics. By setting CHA equal to the highest other stat, Paper Bag allows a cat who invested entirely in STR, INT, or another combat stat to also have maximum CHA for free. This effectively removes the CHA investment tradeoff, enabling builds that exploit CHA-scaling effects without sacrificing combat stats.

Paper Bag is most powerful on cats who have stacked a single stat very high, since CHA will match that peak. A Mugger class cat with high STR and CHA-scaling abilities becomes exceptionally powerful with this item. It works best in the face armor slot on a cat whose face slot would otherwise go unused, and it pairs naturally with any passive or ability that explicitly scales off CHA values.
