Rare Candy

A consumable that instantly levels up one cat — a reference to Pokémon's Rare Candy. Use it on your strongest cat to accelerate their ability progression, or on a specialist build that needs to hit a key ability threshold earlier in the run. Note: does not work on a cat equipped with the Neverstone.

Leveling up a cat unlocks the next tier of abilities and increases base stats, which scales directly with the cat's class and build. Using Rare Candy mid-run front-loads progression that would otherwise require combat experience, letting a cat access stronger abilities before they'd normally be available. The Neverstone interaction is an important caveat — if a cat is wearing Neverstone (which prevents leveling), Rare Candy has no effect, so check equipment before using it.

Rare Candy is most valuable on cats that are close to a critical level threshold where a specific ability or stat milestone unlocks. Identify which cat benefits most from an immediate level-up and use it on them — don't waste it on a cat that levels up frequently through normal combat anyway. It's particularly powerful early in a run when a single level can dramatically improve a specialist's output before reaching difficult mid-game encounters.
