Neverstone

A rare trinket that prevents the wearer from ever leveling up — a reference to Pokémon's Everstone. The strategic value is XP redirection: since experience is distributed across available party members, locking one cat out of leveling funnels their share to everyone else. A powerful setup when you want to accelerate your strongest cats by sacrificing one permanently. There's also a hidden synergy with the Angry Face item: equipping both triggers a special ability that destroys the Neverstone and grants All Stats Up 2 for the duration of the fight. Primarily obtained from the Pity Cat or Extra Life events after a cat dies permanently. Part of the Rock and Gemstone sets.

The XP redirection mechanic works because Mewgenics distributes experience across the full active party. A Neverstone cat stops consuming any portion of that XP, accelerating everyone else's level progression. This is most useful early in a run when leveling speed matters most — by mid-run, your key cats will hit breakpoints several fights earlier than usual. The trade-off is that the Neverstone cat becomes permanently capped, making them increasingly weak relative to leveling allies as the run continues.

Best equipped on a cat that is already at a useful ability plateau, or on one that contributes through gear and utility rather than stats. The Angry Face interaction is worth knowing: deliberately seeking both items to pop the effect grants a temporary All Stats Up 2 at a critical moment. Neverstone also blocks Rare Candy from working on the wearer, so ensure your Rare Candies go to other cats if this is equipped. For level-rush builds where two or three core cats need to reach high levels quickly, the Neverstone sacrifice can define a run.
