Spider Baby

Spider Baby is the rare head armor earned by completing the Spider Injector sidequest. It applies Infested 1 to all enemies at the start of each battle, seeding the opposing team with parasitic spiders from the opening moment. A clean offensive inversion of the sidequest item's self-harm mechanic.

Infested 1 means each afflicted enemy has 1 spider parasite that will hatch and deal damage at some point during combat. Applied to all enemies at battle start, this provides passive chip damage across the entire enemy team every fight without requiring any action from your party. The spiders also create ongoing pressure that can help chip down enemies who are hard to damage directly.

Spider Baby synergizes with any passive or ability that enhances the Infested status, causes spiders to deal more damage, or triggers effects when spiders hatch. The Spider Egg trinket is the most natural companion, since it also applies Infested on hit. Equip Spider Baby on a tank or durable fighter who does not need the head slot for defensive stats, letting the passive Infested application do work without consuming an action each battle.
