The Loner

The Loner is a devastating sidequest weapon that deals 5 damage and hits anything in the wielder's line of sight like a sniper rifle — but at a brutal cost: all allied units are instantly killed at the start of each battle. It belongs to the Cool item set. Complete The Loner sidequest to earn The Loner Mark 2, an upgraded version that reloads whenever an ally dies.

The ally-kill on battle start means you always fight alone with The Loner equipped. The 5-damage line-of-sight shot is your only weapon in what are now solo fights. This transforms every combat into a one-cat survival scenario where positioning, evasion, and output from the single wielder must overcome an entire enemy formation. Cats with high CON, self-healing, or strong AoE abilities have the best chance of succeeding solo.

The Loner demands a specific playstyle: build the wielder to be a self-sufficient killing machine with enough survivability to outlast enemy formations alone. Speed, high HP, Lifesteal, and AoE capabilities are critical. The sidequest is essentially a challenge run — can you complete it while fighting alone every battle? Earning The Loner Mark 2 rewards that investment by converting the ally-kill cost into an on-death reload that actually benefits from allies falling.
