An uncommon tick latched onto the neck with two distinct effects. When The Tick first attaches (spawns), StatusAllCharactersOnSpawn applies a status to every character on the battlefield simultaneously — ally and enemy alike. It also grants health regen after combat via AddEndOfCombatRegen, restoring HP between fights. The all-character on-spawn status can be exploited by compositions that benefit from the applied effect or that are immune to it, turning the tick's indiscriminate spread into a controlled advantage.

The spawn-triggered all-character status fires once when The Tick is first equipped in combat, not on every turn. This means the status applies at the start of the first fight where the item is worn, affecting everyone from the outset. The post-combat regen fires after every fight as long as The Tick is equipped, providing consistent HP recovery between encounters — particularly valuable on a cat who takes heavy damage and needs to stay topped up for successive rooms.

The Tick's on-spawn status is most powerful when you know what it applies. If it benefits your whole team as much or more than it harms them, equipping The Tick right before a tough fight can give your entire party a free status boost. The post-combat regen is a consistent passive on any sustained runner. The CON -1 penalty is minor — the real valuation hinges on identifying whether the spawn status is net positive for your current team composition.
