Status Effect
Elite Buff: Depressing
While alive, its enemies have -1 to all stats.
Internal engine status effect. This is the status applied to elite enemies with the Depressing modifier. Depressing creates a strong debuff aura that significantly reduces nearby cats' stats, weakening their damage, speed, and defense while they remain near the elite.
The stat reduction from Depressing is stronger than its lesser variant, Slightly Depressing, applying a more significant penalty to all stats for adjacent cats. This aura makes melee combat against a Depressing elite feel noticeably weaker, as your cats deal less damage, hit less often, and take more damage from reduced Constitution. The effect persists as long as the elite is alive and your cats remain in range.
Prioritize ranged attacks or burst the Depressing elite down quickly to escape the aura. Stat-boosting buffs like All Stats Up can offset the reduction, but you need enough stacks to overcome the debuff. In multi-enemy encounters, eliminating the Depressing elite first restores your team to full effectiveness for the remaining fight. The boss variant, Elite Buff: Depressing (Boss), has a wider or stronger aura.
