Judgement Day
JudgementDay: 25
Judgement Day is a rare extreme weather effect in Mewgenics that progressively destroys the battlefield itself. At the end of each round, a random number of tiles are "Raptured": beams of light shoot down from the sky, and the affected tiles are permanently destroyed, becoming unusable for the rest of the fight.
The Rapture effect escalates each round. Early rounds may destroy only 1 or 2 tiles, which barely affects gameplay. But by round 4 or 5, larger chunks of the arena are being removed each turn. By the late rounds, the usable battlefield may have shrunk by 30 to 50%, forcing all surviving units into an increasingly cramped space.
This shrinking arena creates several tactical effects. First, it creates extreme urgency to end fights quickly, since prolonged battles leave you with almost no room to maneuver. Second, it forces units closer together as the available space contracts, which dramatically increases the effectiveness of AoE abilities. Third, it can destroy tiles that were strategically important, like cover, terrain features, or tiles you were planning to use for positioning.
Ranged builds are more resilient under Judgement Day because they need less space to function effectively. A ranged cat can operate from almost any surviving tile and still reach targets. Melee cats that need to close distance are increasingly constrained as the arena shrinks and movement routes are cut off by Raptured tiles.
Judgement Day can appear in any biome and is classified as a rare weather. Its escalating destruction mechanic creates some of the most dramatically tense fights in the game, where the arena itself is your enemy.
