Minesweeper

Minesweeper is an environmental weather effect in Mewgenics that scatters land mines across the battlefield. These mines are hidden hazards that detonate when any unit steps on them, dealing significant damage that can cripple or kill a cat in a single blast.
Mines are an equal-opportunity threat, affecting your cats and enemies alike. The key difference is that you choose where your cats move, while enemies are controlled by AI. This means careful pathing is in your hands, but you also need to track mine locations across the entire arena, which becomes increasingly difficult in large or cluttered fights.
The tactical view toggle (middle mouse button on keyboard, Y on controller) is essential during Minesweeper. It strips away visual clutter and shows simplified terrain information, making it much easier to spot mine locations and plan safe movement paths.
Ranged team compositions have a significant advantage under Minesweeper, since they can engage enemies from safe positions without crossing mine-laden terrain. Melee builds need to plot careful routes to their targets, potentially sacrificing turns of combat to navigate around mines.
Knockback abilities transform mines from hazards into weapons. Pushing an enemy onto a mine deals the mine's damage in addition to the knockback damage itself. In fights with many mines, a knockback-focused cat can effectively one-shot enemies by shoving them onto the nearest explosive. This makes Minesweeper one of the better weathers for displacement-heavy strategies.
Minesweeper can appear in any biome and is classified as an uncommon weather. It rewards spatial awareness and punishes careless movement, making it a natural skill check for players learning to navigate Mewgenics' tactical combat.
