Oil Spill

Oil Spill is an environmental weather effect in Mewgenics that creates an escalating fire hazard by spawning a new oil puddle on a random tile each turn. Oil puddles are inert on their own but are extremely flammable, and igniting one can trigger chain reactions that spread fire across every connected oil tile.
The tactical implications of Oil Spill are enormous for teams with Fire abilities. The longer a fight goes, the more oil accumulates on the battlefield. A patient player can let oil puddles build up in an area where enemies are clustered, then ignite the entire patch with a single Fire attack for devastating area damage. This "trap and ignite" strategy can clear entire groups of enemies in a single turn and is one of the most satisfying combos in the game.
The risk, of course, is that enemies with Fire abilities can do the same thing to your cats. If oil has pooled around your team's position and an enemy lights it up, the chain explosion can be catastrophic. Keeping your cats mobile and avoiding prolonged positioning near oil clusters is essential when the enemy roster includes fire users.
Water abilities provide a clean counter to Oil Spill. Water tiles can neutralize oil puddles, removing the flammable hazard entirely. If you see oil building up in a dangerous spot, a well-placed water ability can defuse the threat before it ignites.
Oil Spill can appear in any biome and is classified as an uncommon weather. It rewards patient, strategic play and punishes players who ignore the growing oil hazards on the battlefield.
