Spina Bifida is heritable and belongs to the birth defect category of disorders, meaning it is most commonly acquired when kittens are born rather than through adventure events. Inbreeding increases the chance of birth defects appearing, so breeding closely related cats raises the risk of offspring developing Spina Bifida.
