Infested causes the elite enemy to spawn a non-champion Fly Swarm upon death. The enemy has a visible fly particle effect buzzing around it while alive. Additionally, the Infested elite's corpse health is reduced to effectively zero, meaning the body cannot be interacted with or revived after death. When you kill the Infested elite, the Fly Swarm appears in its place as a final threat that must be dealt with.

Infested turns every kill into a two-phase fight. You commit resources to killing the elite, only to face a fresh Fly Swarm that requires additional damage to clear. This is particularly dangerous in multi-enemy encounters where you may run low on mana and abilities after killing the Infested elite, leaving your team vulnerable to the spawned flies. Fly Swarms typically attack in groups and can overwhelm weakened cats. Infested on tanky enemies is especially draining because you spend resources killing the elite and then must spend more on the swarm.

Plan your resource usage knowing that killing the Infested elite is only half the fight. Reserve some mana and abilities for the Fly Swarm that appears after the kill. Area-of-effect abilities are efficient for cleaning up the swarm quickly. Since the Fly Swarm is non-champion, it will not have enhanced stats, making it easier to kill if you have resources remaining. Kill the Infested elite at a time when your team is healthy and has actions remaining rather than as a last-gasp effort. Position your team so the swarm spawns in a location your cats can immediately attack.
