Mega transforms the elite into a larger, more powerful version with 50% more health and 50% more ability damage. The enemy is scaled up to 120% size and is visually imposing. In exchange, the Mega elite takes one fewer turn per round, meaning it acts less frequently but hits much harder when it does. This tradeoff creates an enemy that is slow but devastating, turning each of its actions into a major threat.
Mega is most dangerous on enemies whose abilities already deal high damage, since the 1.5x multiplier pushes already-lethal attacks into overkill territory. A single hit from a Mega elite can outright kill fragile cats that could normally survive a regular hit. The increased health pool also makes the fight longer, demanding sustained damage output. However, the reduced turn count is a meaningful downside for the enemy. Mega on fast, multi-attack enemies actually reduces their threat by cutting their number of actions, sometimes making them less dangerous than their normal version.
The reduced action economy is your window. Use the extra time between the Mega elite's turns to heal, reposition, and set up burst combos. Stack damage during the safe turns and play defensively on the turns when the Mega elite acts. Brace and Shield effects are especially valuable since each hit is so heavy. Focus on survival and steady damage rather than rushing. If the Mega elite only acts once per round, you have an entire round cycle to deal damage and prepare defenses. Classes with strong defensive cooldowns can time them for the Mega elite's action turns.
