Mirror gives the elite enemy the ability to reflect all projectiles back at the caster, while taking 2 damage itself per reflected projectile. The enemy has a visible shining particle effect. Any ranged projectile attack aimed at the Mirror elite bounces back and hits your cat instead, effectively turning your own ranged abilities against you. The self-damage of 2 per reflection means the Mirror elite does slowly wear itself down when reflecting, but your cat takes the full redirected damage.
Mirror completely flips the script on ranged combat strategies. Teams that rely heavily on ranged projectile abilities suddenly find their own damage redirected back at them, potentially killing their own cats. Mirror is most dangerous when your team is built around ranged carries, since their primary damage source becomes self-destructive. The 2 self-damage per reflection is minor compared to the damage your cats take from their own reflected attacks. Mirror on a tanky enemy with high health can absorb many reflections before the self-damage becomes relevant.
Melee attacks are the direct counter since they are not projectiles and cannot be reflected. Switch to melee damage when facing Mirror elites. Non-projectile spells like area-of-effect abilities, auras, or ground-targeted effects may bypass the reflection depending on whether they count as projectiles. Damage-over-time effects like Poison and Burn deal damage directly and are not reflected. If you must use projectiles, the 2 self-damage per reflection means the Mirror elite is technically hurting itself too, but this is an inefficient way to kill it. Prioritize melee-capable cats for this target.
