Chan Hung

Chan Hung is a Monk-themed miniboss with 65 HP, 3 damage, 3 movement, and 5 Luck, found in The Lab (Act 3, Chapter 1). His combat design revolves around a unique counter-reaction system: rather than taking normal turns, he responds to every individual action the player takes with a specific counteraction. This makes the number of actions your party uses per turn directly proportional to how many responses Chan Hung fires back, punishing action-heavy compositions.

Chan Hung's reaction system has three triggers. When a player unit moves, he moves toward that unit. When a player unit uses an attack or weapon within melee range, he counterattacks with a melee strike. When a player unit casts a spell while positioned on a cardinal direction from him, he fires a long-range line attack with 4+ tile range. He starts each fight with 1 Brace status, reducing initial burst damage, and can spend an action to gain Kinetic Spikes, punishing melee attackers who hit him. Notably, his attack reactions only trigger at melee range, and his spell reactions only fire when an enemy is in a cardinal direction from him.

The key to fighting Chan Hung is minimizing total actions per round. Use single high-value actions rather than multi-action combos to limit his reaction output. Attacking from outside melee range avoids his melee counterattack, and casting spells from diagonal positions prevents his line-attack reaction since it only triggers on cardinal alignment. His Brace and Kinetic Spikes mean early burst damage may be partially absorbed, so sustained pressure from safe positions is more effective than rushing in. Chan Hung has Champion and Robo variants.
