Enemy
Crater Creeper
Movement: 3
The Crater Creeper is a small 8 HP enemy found in The Crater and The Rift that combines ranged rock projectiles with a dash attack that spawns Amoeba minions. With 0 damage and 3 movement, the Crater Creeper does not deal direct damage through its own stats but instead relies on its projectiles and spawned Amoebas to threaten your party. Its most distinctive feature is a directional vulnerability: the Crater Creeper can only be damaged when attacked from the front, making positioning crucial for dealing with it.
The Crater Creeper has two primary attack modes: it either shoots rocks as ranged projectiles or dashes forward, leaving an Amoeba behind in its wake. The Amoeba it produces is a fully functional enemy that must be dealt with separately, creating a steady stream of reinforcements the longer the Crater Creeper survives. The front-only vulnerability means attacks from the sides, rear, or diagonal angles deal no damage, requiring you to maneuver your cats into position directly in front of the Creeper before striking.
To efficiently handle the Crater Creeper, position a cat directly in front of it and strike from that angle. If it turns or repositions, you may need to chase its facing direction before attacking again. Eliminating it quickly prevents Amoeba accumulation, as each dash produces another enemy to manage. The Crater Creeper serves as the enemy counterpart to the playable Can Creeper miniboss, which uses similar mechanics but leaves Flies instead of Amoebas and shoots diagonally. In mixed encounters, deal with Crater Creepers before their Amoeba spawns create an overwhelming secondary threat.
