Fleshy Mind
Movement: 2
The Fleshy Mind is a 23 HP pulsating mass of sentient flesh found in The Throbbing Domain, acting as one of the area's most tactically disruptive enemies. Unlike many Throbbing Domain creatures that rely on brute force, the Fleshy Mind attacks your party's capabilities directly by silencing spells and punishing anyone who strikes it. Its combination of ranged suppression and reactive confusion makes it a high-priority target that is paradoxically dangerous to attack.
The Fleshy Mind uses a lobbed ranged attack that inflicts the Muted status effect, progressively disabling your cats' spells starting from the leftmost ability slot and working across. This attack targets units directly rather than tiles, making it impossible to dodge through abilities like Backflip. Notably, the projectile can even hit and damage corpses on the battlefield. When the Fleshy Mind takes damage and survives, it retaliates by inflicting Confusion on the attacker. Since Confusion damage scales with the attacker's Strength stat, high-Strength melee cats suffer the most from this retaliation, potentially taking massive self-inflicted damage.
The best counter to the Fleshy Mind is to use low-Strength cats, particularly ranged attackers, to minimize the Confusion retaliation damage. Cats that rely on Intelligence or Dexterity rather than Strength can chip away at its 23 HP without suffering devastating self-harm. If possible, try to burst it down in a single turn to avoid multiple rounds of Muted stacking on your party. Alternatively, sending in a cat with no equipped spells negates the Muted effect entirely, though you still need to manage the Confusion punishment. In encounters with multiple Fleshy Minds, clearing them early prevents your entire spell roster from being systematically shut down.
