The Yeti Cat is a ranged cat enemy found in the Ice Age chapter. It attacks exclusively at range 2 — it can only hit units exactly 2 tiles away, creating a dead zone at melee range and beyond range 2. Its ranged ice attack inflicts Slow and has a chance to Freeze the target. It also counter-attacks any unit that engages it in melee, with the counter capable of applying Freeze.

The combination of a ranged attack that only reaches range 2 and a freeze counter to melee creates an unusual threat profile: it punishes both staying at range 2 and closing to melee. A cat attacking at range 2 takes the ice shot; a cat that rushes adjacent risks the freeze counter. Since most of its attacks are Ice element, ice immunity substantially reduces the threat from both its ranged attack and its counter.

Attack from range 3 or greater to stay outside the Yeti Cat's attack range entirely. Cats with reach abilities or long-range attacks can engage it safely without triggering either the ranged ice shot or the melee counter. Ice immunity, available through various mutations and items, is highly recommended in the Ice Age chapter and makes Yeti Cats nearly harmless. Avoid clustering cats at range 2 from a Yeti Cat as the slow accumulation can compound across multiple targets.
