Broken Mirror
Rare
Broken Mirror is a rare trinket that slaps -99 LCK onto its wearer — a nearly unprecedented luck penalty. Under normal circumstances this is a serious liability, making crits rare and bad outcomes far more frequent. It may exist to enable curse-synergy builds, punish the bearer deliberately as part of a mechanic, or simply serve as a trap for the unwary. Approach with extreme caution unless your build specifically benefits from negative luck.
The -99 LCK penalty is one of the most severe stat debuffs in the game, and may push luck into deeply negative territory depending on the wearer's base stats. In Mewgenics, luck typically influences critical hit rates, loot quality, and the outcome of random events. With extreme negative luck, a cat will rarely or never crit, may trigger more unlucky random events, and could interact with abilities or mutations that scale off low or negative luck values.
The legitimate use case for Broken Mirror is a build that intentionally exploits low luck, such as abilities that deal bonus damage when the user has negative luck, or mutations that convert bad outcomes into stat gains. If your run is not built around this concept, pass on it. Notably, this item shares a name with the Broken Mirror on page 13 that penalizes luck more modestly, suggesting multiple variants exist at different severity levels.
